Robinson is
proud to announce that noted economist and author Dr. Mark Skousen
has been
named as the Foundation's first Director of Economic Education. In
this role,
Dr. Skousen will promote the principles of free market economics
through
seminars, lectures, and publications aimed at America's high school
and
college students. These new programs will complement Young America's
Foundation's ever-expanding role in shaping the hearts and minds of
future
leaders through the ideas of individual freedom, a strong national
defense,
free enterprise, and traditional values.
"I'm thrilled to have Dr. Skousen as part of our team.
Mark
brings impressive credentials, a wealth of experience, and unique,
exciting
ideas to this position," said Robinson of the appointment.
Dr. Skousen is a professional economist, financial advisor,
university
professor, and author of over 20 books. Dr. Skousen is currently a
professor
of economics and finance at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida,
and was
recently a guest lecturer at Columbia Business School at Columbia
University
in New York. In 2001-02, he was president of the Foundation for
Economic
Education and publisher of Laissez Faire Books. In the early 1970s,
Dr.
Skousen was an economic analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency
(CIA).
Since then, he has been a consultant to IBM, Hutchinson Technology,
and
several other Fortune 500 companies. He has written articles for
Forbes, The
Wall Street Journal, Liberty, Reason, and The Journal of Economic
Perspectives, and has appeared on ABC News, CNBC Power Lunch, CNN,
and C-SPAN
Book TV.
For the past 23 years, Dr. Skousen has been the editor in chief
of
Forecasts & Strategies, a popular investment newsletter published by
Phillips
Publishing Inc. He earned his Ph. D. in economics from George
Washington
University in 1977. Since then, his books have included Economics on
Trial,
Puzzles and Paradoxes in Economics, and The Making of Modern
Economics. His
financial bestsellers include The Complete Guide to Financial
Privacy, High
Finance on a Low Budget (co-authored with his wife, Jo Ann) and
Scrooge
Investing. His latest book is The Power of Economic Thinking.

Young America's Foundation is an educational organization

conservative ideas on our nation's campuses through lectures,

addition, Young America's Foundation saved President Reagan's
Western White
House - Rancho del Cielo in Santa Barbara, California - to serve as
