There are several articles in the San Francisco Chronicle regarding the disappearance of the Jitneys from San Francisco streets. The causes cited are: new California law requiring astronomical insurance coverage for private transport vehicles and the appearance of the cheap subsidized MUNI FastPass. The issue of curb rights was not cited, other than nostalgia for the rather chaotic way jitneys conducted their business. Do we need to re-think our Ballot Initiative?
