Why Defeatism Should Be Avoided

Very good point, Richard. I'll also add that it's important not to be defeatist. Defeatism discourages people. Being realistic is important too, when it comes to things like specific political campaigns, but larger issues are uncertain enough that the best strategy for achieving positive change on a larger scale is to be optimistic. "Never" (as your example illustrates) is also an awfully sweeping word, and such sweeping claims frequently turn out to be inaccurate.

If you have your private doubts about the success of the libertarian venture, or of a large part of it, such as defeating prohibition laws, please respect your fellow activists and keep them to yourself.

We shall overcome!

All those arguments were brought up in the 1920's, to
explain why alcohol prohibition would never be
repealed.

Let us not
forget that the
DEA treads on
very flimsy
constitutional
grounds. The
late chief
Justice
Rhenquist, the
former Justice
O'Conner and
the most
honorable
Justice Thomas
wrote the
minority
opinion,
strongly
dissenting from
the majority
the dissenters
stated that the
pot clubs
operated
outside the
realm of
interstate
commerce.
Unfortunately,
the majority
held that
because4 the
commerce clause
has been abused
for 60 years,
the Congress
not the courts
must make tha
change in the
interpretation
of the commerce
clause. Justice
Souter, again,
as I have
mentioned
before, made
the critical
error in
asserting that
the
Constitution is
all about
Democracy. Thus
he felt the
decision must
be deferred to
Congress. No
dear Justice
Souter, the
founders made
it clear,
Democracy ,
along with
republican
checks, was the
imperfect and
dangerous means
to protect the
ultimat end,
indivdual
Liberty. The
Court exists to
interpret the
Constitution
and it's
ammendments,
the entirity of
which, limit
the foernments
power.. If
Democracy was
Supreme, why
have a Supreme
Court. Franklin
said " I give
you this
Republic , if
you can keep
it."

Thus the DEA
thugs exist
under the
perversion of
the interstate
commerce clause
developed by
libnerals to
justify the
expansion of
Federal
regulation in
every area of
the lives of
the sovereign
citizens There
is large
consrevative
support for
ending the
Rosseveltian
abuse of the
Commerce Clause
and the General
Welfare Clause.
The fact that
Rhenquist,
Thomas, and
O'Conner
defgended the
Pot Clubs
should be used
to embarrass
the DEA agents
as liberal
activists.
The fact that
the DEA is out
there
protecting
libneral values
agianst
dangerous
Conservative
subversives who
seek to limit
the power of
the power of
the government
to regulate all
aspect of our
lives should be
emphasized to
the press by
Mr. Daley and
Mr. Leno. We
should be out
there begging
in the memory
of Justice
Rhenquist and
in honor of
Justice Thomas
for support in
our
Conservative
cause. Could
someone help me
fond the link
to
Thomas's
eloquent
defense.
