Sorry, but rationalizing confinement of a non-violent citizen who is no threat to others against his or her will is always wrong. No rationalizing gets around that fact.
There's been an awful lot of cognitive dissonance around rationalizing why all the unlibertarian stuff that Ron Paul stands for isn't so bad, or is "blown out of proportion," or whatever. The entire sorry charade is, in my view, proof positive of the value of a principled and articulate LP platform.
