Understanding the Budget Crisis

UNDERSTANDING THE BUDGET CRISIS

DACA is about children known as “Dreamers” who were brought to America
mostly by their mothers when they were babies or who walked across the
border after Obama foolishly stated that we do not deport children. They
have been in the USA a long time and speak English just like a born
American. The problem is that once a Dreamer gets US citizenship she will
want to bring all her relatives here too.

A simple solution would be to create a special immigration category for
them, saying they can stay here but they cannot sponsor their relatives to
enter the country. This is what Trump calls “chain migration”.

Having them all deported simply will not work because they will disappear
into the system. They will go underground and it will not be possible to
find them, yet I saw a California Congressman interviewed on CNN saying he
wants to deport all the Dreamers.

Now Trump wants $30 billion dollars to build a wall in return for which he
will let the Dreamers stay. This is unacceptable. The USA is broke. We do
not have $30 billion to waste on a Wall that will be ineffective because
those who want to enter the USA will simply use a ladder to climb over the
wall or will tunnel under the wall as they are already doing, plus almost
half of the US border is a river that cannot be blocked. Trumps desire for
a Wall is just an ego trip for himself. No rational person would favor it.
The Republicans are saying the Democrats are shutting down the government
by not providing $30 billion for the Wall, whereas the Democrats are saying
the Republicans are shutting down the government by not providing help for
the Dreamers. The Libertarians and the Freedom Caucus want the Government
shut down in either case.

That's only a "problem" for people who are anti-immigrant or other governments who don't want "their" people to have options. For libertarians who support freedom of movement, it's a good thing when families can exercise choice about where to locate without fearing that government officials may suddenly kidnap them.

A simple solution would be to create a special immigration category for them, saying they can stay here but they cannot sponsor their relatives to enter the country. This is what Trump calls “chain migration”.

It is what other people call "tearing families apart".

You're certainly right about the wall Sam. It is irrational, and a threat to the freedom of people in the United States to be able to readily leave the country in the event of a full-on police state. And if the government were truly shut down, they would not be getting paid with stolen taxpayer dollars to threaten violence against anyone, including "dreamers" and their family members.
