Time is Running Out to Order Yes on 66 Printed Materials!

Rich,

On my write-in ballot, part of the summary of 66 reads: "Increases
punishment for specified sex crimes against children."

This seems vague and doesn't sound quite right. Can you give us either
the expanded text of this or your own summary of what it purports?
Thanks.

Best, Michael

Unfortunately I think that's where they made a deal with the devil.
I'm holding my nose and voting for it because I think the good the
measure will do will outweigh the harm.

RE: Printed Materials Are Ready and Need To Ship ASAP

There are two weeks left until the election and we need all Prop. 66
supporters to help us distribute brochures, flyers and other materials
to get the word out about Prop. 66. Please drop them by churches and
ask other community groups and organizations to distribute materials
as well. If you have previously ordered materials but need more you
are encouraged to order as many as you feel you can distribute.

Please take a moment to review the available and place your order by
simply returning this email (I have attached a PDF order document as
well but it does not include a field to order the brochures targeted
at Latinos yet). Most orders will ship overnight.

Please include the following information in your email:

Your Name:

Your Organization:

Your Mailing Address (must be a physical address not a PO BOX):

Your Phone Number (the shipper won't ship without this):

We have the following materials, please specify the quantity desired:

-Yes on 66 English Brochure/Walk Piece

-Yes on 66 Spanish Language Brochure

-Yes on 66 Brochure/Walk Piece Targeted at Latinos (avail. 10/21)

-Yes on 66 Brochure/Walk Piece Targeted at African Americans (avail.
10/21)

-Yes on 66 Buttons

-Yes on 66 Doorhangers

-Yes on 66 Postcards to mail to friends and family

-Yes on 66 Bumper Stickers (Note: we are nearly out of these and
probably won't get more)

-Yes on 66 Posters (11 by 17 inches)

Please give me a call at (916) 290-1867 with any questions. Thanks for
your support!

Hi Michael,

My understanding is that the penalty for child molesters would be raised to 25 years to life. Even if a first offense. This, to me, seems a bit extreme. Watch out Catholic church

This is not my most favorite aspect of Prop. 66. I am sure it was a 'bone' thrown to counter criticism that 66 was too weak on crime.

But, on balance, I still support 66 which requires the 'third strike' to be a violent or serious crime. This will keep a lot of petty shoplifters or non-violent drug offenders from still being in prison in their golden years, at great expense to the taxpayer. A lot of these folks haven't even committed a real (i.e., 'with victim') crime, per a libertarian definition, yet are getting 25 year to life sentences under the existing three strikes law. We're talking about several thousand folks in the first ten years of the laws existence; over half of those convicted using that law.
