"The Torture Doctors," by Nat Hentoff

The American Psychological Association recently issued a statement on
psychologists' participation in torture, which I found
appalling-something like, "Psychologists participating in torture have
an obligation to behave ethically. . . ." That was the subject of some
discussion at the FFF conference: Psychologists' dependence on federal
grants makes it logically impossible for them to say anything critical
of government. Another reason for separation of state and science.
