Right, and not eating meat increases that risk. The vegan problems are generally with B12, iron and vitamin D. Insufficient vitamin B12 may account for why vegans do not have a greater life expectancy than meat eaters and have, IIRC, twice the rate of degenerative brain disorders in old age.

Yes, it's important for vegans to take B12 and everyone who doesn't have sufficient sun exposure to take D. However, green leafy vegetables supply iron (vegans who subsist on vegan junk-food usually don't get enough of this).
