It is important to disabuse the word "conservative" from the unsavory meanings given to it by the anti-constitutional conservatives and warmongers.
I have found there is a generation of people who have no idea of the "conservative" Reagan speaks of in 1964, in explaining "there have been three decades..." ( 5:50).
It has been five decades since that speech, during which the meanings of conservative and liberal have been conflated with Republicans, Democrats, and fanatics.
Lost in the language is whether our government will be a faithful servant or a fearful master. And lost in the five decades, is everything traded for liberty, along the lines of those who will trade liberty for security will have neither.

John is exactly right. The original meaning of "conservative", what I believe to be the true meaning, is what we call "libertarian" today. That is why I call politicians "neo-cons" who call themselves "conservative" but aren't.

The neo-cons are a specific brand of anti-constitutional conservatives, expanding government power for their social and economic engineering. In this regard, they are no different from their counterparts in Tehran, Cairo, Islamabad, or Moscow.
