Thanks for the sympathetic story about the homeless

It does seem, as many of the people interviewed in your story mention, that there is a rising tide of mean-spiritedness toward the homeless in San Francisco. So it was refreshing to read your piece (San Francisco’s Unhoused Say City’s Generosity Is Drying Up) humanizing people living on the streets and recognizing them as human beings who often do not fit the stereotypes of just being drugged out and crazy.

If you ever need a quote from someone who isn’t part of what some have called “the homeless-industrial complex”, and who is sympathetic toward the plight of those on the street, please feel free to contact me. I’d love to see more reporting on, and attention paid to, the massive amounts of money that the city government is stealing from taxpayers and spending to supposedly help the homeless, paying lots of six-figure salaries, without, you know, actually helping them in any way that is effective.
