SWAT smackdown of the Innocent

Dear Everyone;

This is a article done under the auspices of CATO in 2006 which highlights the attacks by SWAT on citizens and the botched raids. As the article states in its opening paragrpah:

In recent years American police forces have called out SWAT teams 40,000 or more times annually. Last year did you read in your newspaper or hear on TV news of 110 hostage or terrorist events each day? No. What then were the SWAT teams doing? They were serving routine warrants to people who posed no danger to the police or to the public.

On the CATO site is an interactive map showing all the places nationally where SWAT blew it.

An armed citizenry seems to be even more apparently needed just so we can protect ourselves from being murdered by SWAT teams - who are "protecting us citizens from the bad guys". So who's going to protect us from SWAT?
