Thanks for responding. I wasn't arguing against the content of your proposal, which sounds great from what I've seen, only the title. I think one of the things that brought down Prop. 19 is that libertarian-minded people who are a key part of the measure's base were turned off by the campaign's selling the measure by arguing for taxation, which as we know is theft.
I understand that politically, we can't always prevent it, as you say, but I don't think we ought to be using it as a selling point. That only encourages people to buy into the statist paradigm that says taxation is a good thing.
