Social Responsibility (Was Re: Bill Hemenger is a Democrat)

I understand your argument about choosing the least of evils when voting,
Marcy. It's just that I was a single click away from making a campaign
contribution to him when I decided to check his Facebook page first. I was
ready to give him my time and money. Now, I'm no more inclined to give him
time and money than I would any other Democrat. Rhetoric means little to
me. Remember Bill Clinton said the era of big government was over. He
certainly didn't mean it, and I no longer think Bill Hemenger means it when
he says he's pro-business and would rein in City Hall's overreach into the
private sector.

BTW, since you mentioned "social responsibility", I don't want "social
responsibility" to become bad words in Libertarian circles, the way
"environmentalism" and "diversity" seem to have become bad words. In fact,
I'm helping to organize events on social responsibility for my professional
society, American Society for Quality -- a smaller one later this month and
a much larger one next June. ASQ is all about voluntary standards (like
ISO/ANSI) instead of government regulations, and the new ISO 26000 social
responsibility standard is very promising. If anyone is interested in how
private organizations and entire industries and economies can voluntarily
standardize and avoid government regulation, you may want to attend this
upcoming event:
