Your use of the phrase "wanton license" in reference to non-monogamy leads me to believe you are unfamiliar with the book "The Ethical Slut," by Dossie Easton and Catherine Liszt (http://www.kinkybooks.com/books/bk042.htm).
This book should reassure political conservatives and cultural conservatives who are afraid of a sexual landscape unbound by any moral considerations. However it will not reassure those whose real goal is to suppress any deviation from the culture of monogamy.
