David,
I'm glad there was a good turnout, and appreciate ASA organizing this protest of the outrageous crackdown on cannabis freedom in California by the Obama administration. Among those present were congressional candidate and Drug War opponent John Dennis, running for Congress against Drug War supporter Nancy Pelosi, and some of his supporters. I told John about the event, and encouraged him to go and speak at it.
Unfortunately, he reported to me that Stephanie bluntly turned down multiple requests from himself and others that John Dennis be allowed to speak. This exclusion was a real mistake, and the kind of thing that will make me more inclined to listen to ASA's critics to the extent it seems like part of a pattern. Note that I also called ASA's Oakland office and left a message about John speaking there a couple days ago, but did not hear back from anyone.
Please pass this message along to Stephanie and ask her to respond -- I don't have her email address. We are specifically requesting that John be invited to speak at ASA's next public event in the city.
