Yesterday I skated around the Castro Street Fair with a homemade sign promoting World Farm Animals Day (October 2) on one side, and opposing Proposition H on the other. I liked juxtaposing the two concepts (sending the message that gun rights are aimed at tyrants, not animals). 8) I was expecting comments on the perceived incongruity of the messages, or objections to the No on H position, but gratifyingly I got no negative comments on either, while several people expressed support. In fact I did not see anyone at the event supporting Prop. H. Even when I went by the Green Party booth, and got into a debate about consumer regulation of marijuana dispensaries, while prominently holding the sign, the issue never came up. In fact I noticed on a list of Green Party endorsements that they are officially taking no position on the measure. They are also opposing a pair of bond measures on the ballot (A and B), and the firefighter union's featherbedding Prop. F as well -- not bad!

P.S. - I still have the sign, which mentions the Pink Pistols along with the Libertarian Party and the SFGunBan.com website. If anyone has a good place to display it, they are welcome to it. It's roughly the size of a campaign lawn sign.
That is HUGE!!! We need to make this grass-roots effort look as big and as broad as possible. It'd also be a great opportunity to bring up the threat H poses to the 4th Amendment, and that little big word, "penalty", that is written into the measure. I want the viewing public demanding to know what the penalty will be, putting the proponents on the spot over issues they're trying very hard not to think about.

You rock, Starchild! Great work, as usual.
With regard to the KTVU query to the Pink Pistols, I sure wouldn't have accepted. I've yet
to see a mainstream media story on the shooting sports that put gun owners in a positive
light. I hope I'm wrong, but I expect that the PP's hospitality will backfire.

CORRECTION: I misrecollected one of the SF Green Party's positions. They are not opposing Prop. B, but simply taking no position on it. See http://www.sfgreenparty.org/campaigns/campaigns.gem for their endorsements in the upcoming election.

Delores park was one of the hewells of living in the City. No more.Flood
and drought have reduced it to adustbowl soon to cum mudflat. It seems
the sprinkler heads and other key sprinkler devices have gone missing.
PC rectitude has silenced speculation as to the cause, but i suspect
recycling entrepeneurs aware of the high price of the metals in the
sprinkler heads. Lack of respect for the concept of laws and property
among the thieves may also have contributed to the problem. This lack of
respectmay in part stem from either the drug war or other idealogical
animosities to propery. The city workers and mangers sharged with
maintainig the park have shown no visible iniative in mitigating the
problem that has gone uncorrected since at least April. Well, they did
one thing, they ended flooding by finally cutting off the irrigation
system .They could have at least gotten out the fire hoses to water the
grass on critical slopes. Or found some money to hire some neighborhood
kids in the summer to do the job. But that would have interferred with
Union work rules. The high metal prives are all part of the boom and
bust commodity cycle, syptomatic of our dysfunctional fractional reserve
banking system and worldwide fiat currency. So yes, I have a hammer,
and the mud in the park looks like a nail to me. What a mess.
I hear the city is replacing the sprinkler heads with plastic, but so
far the park is as dry as the Mojave.
Also, gold is trading in a very healthy way above 450 dollars an ounce
and gives indications both fundamntally and technically of being
rediscoverd by the world's wealthy and middle class as the only form
of money that can not be destroyed by a printing press and a
politician. I would urge my fellow libertarians to learn about the
historic and emerging role of precious metals and the wealth building
potential of presious mets mining companies. I fully expect to
multiply my wealth both nominal and real by the end of the decade, and
would like not to be alone. Think what a powerhouse we could be with
the funds for full time dedicated staff, website developers, film
makers, a real estate presence, advertising etrc. How many years will
some of our members let thier IRA's and 401 ks sit in normal stock
mutual funds making no money and losing purchasing value to inflation.
The dow, sand ps and naz have been flat or own since 2000 and are

Gold and silver remain waay undrvalued by historic normsespecially
compared to the upper ranges reached during decling trust in
government backed paper currency. Gold may decline in the next few
days or weeks, giving some of you the opportunity to eneter at
slightly lower prives.. Most of you have discarded the convential
political wisdom, now it is time to discard the convential finacial
wisdom. For the mainstream oriented, may I suggest Bill Gross's
comments on Pimco or Warren Buffets quaterly reports on Berkshhires
website, or better yet Bill Bonner at the daily reckoning .com or the
rantings of the mogambo guru there. Kitco.com and golden eagle.com do
a google, have a welath of terrific commentary. My favorite junior

Phil,
I think there are a couple more likely causes of the vandalized sprinklers, namely those noted in the following Examiner article: Disgruntled staffers and homeless people seeking to keep sleeping areas dry.

Maybe it was disgruntled workers, either way it's still in the general
mileau of wanting a free lunch. The Wxaminer article is revealing in
that city officials reaposable for the problem talk the talk so very
well and yet the paek still liiks like flnders in the fall of 1917.
For some fun related reading do a goofle on" brass sprinkler head
theft ". Especially interesting is a piece by caltrans on the homeless
and highway sprinkler design. The piece was suprisingly frank.
