I unfortunately missed this hearing yesterday, but apparently the Board of Supervisors has adopted legislation that if enforced would require most of the existing cannabis dispensaries in San Francisco to close their doors. Here is one activist's angry and informative response, in which he castigates specific Board members for their role in the proceedings.
Yours in liberty,
<<< Starchild >>>
Shame on you Supervisors,
I have been a cannabis activist for twenty-five years and I've never heard such a bunch of
hypocrisy and BULLSH*T regarding the issue of medical cannabis since the infamous Attorney General
Dan Lundgren.
You've got what you wanted, you've legislated 95% of the dispensaries out of existence.
I had to listen to your hypocritical comments regarding how much you support the medical cannabis
patients of San Francisco, while at the same time you were legislating their safe access to
medical cannabis right away through your phony zoning requirements.
What I heard from most of you yesterday was alot of misinformation based on ignorance and
NIMBYism.
Shame on you Supervisor Maxwell for suggesting that MCDs would relocate to your district,
especially since their is not an MCD located in your district.
Shame on you Supervisor Daly for including several zoning requirements in your amendments that
effectively kill the best MCDs in the City.
Shame on you Supervisor Ma for hypocritically stating how much you support medical cannabis
patients to activists, while you voted for nearly all the amendments restricting MCDs.
Shame on you Supervisor Alioto-Pier for your insistence on delaying these proceedings with your
ignorance regarding medical cannabis. You should remand yourself from voting on this issue while
you educate yourself.
Shame on you Supervisor Mirkarimi for passively sitting back and allowing the carving up of your
proposed regulations and also for voting for a majority of the amendments.
Shame on all of you for denying safe access to medical cannabis. You will BE causing sick and
dying patients a great deal of hardships in obtaining their medicine. You have made a mockery of
Proposition S and the wishes of voters in San Francisco. Your legislation is flawed and doesn't
reflect popular opinion and show how out of touch you are with your constituencies.
If you think the medical cannabis community is going to sit back and endure your harsh
legislation, you are sadly mistaken. We will challenge you in the courts, on the streets and, in
time, at the ballot box and through any other means at our disposal.
None of you are friends of medical cannabis community and if you think voters are going to forget
the treachery you exhibited yesterday, you are wrong.
ONE ANGRY VOTER,
Clark Sullivan
