This is exactly the sort of thing that can happen when voting is left to cabals of elite delegates instead of members - the people in charge twist the rules and the will of the people is suppressed. The whole this is a sham to consolidate power into the hands behind a thin facade of disconnected democracy.

I wish I could say I hadn't seen similar tactics employed at LP
conventions. Pretty clear lesson there about the concept of democracy.

Until we have direct democracy, the individual doesn't really have vote.

It's not obvious to me that "direct" democracy is any improvement. I
was referring, among other things, to democratic process in LP business,
where I've seen the same sorts of tactics, like quorum manipulation. Do
you think direct democracy is lacking in LP conventions, or that it
should be implemented?
