Dear friends,
My *fifth* court date is tomorrow morning (yes, the wheels of injustice grind slowly). As always, it's great to have friends along to show support and remind them that I'm part of society, and not some criminal miscreant with only unsavory associates afraid to show themselves in court! I continue to find the whole process an interesting glimpse into how the system works, and you may too. However no major events are anticipated, so if you need to work or something, please don't feel obliged to come.
A friend and I will be getting a ride over to Fremont with my attorney, Erica Franklin. The upside of having to pay for her mileage is being able to bum rides! Erica has room for one more person in her car. We'll meet outside her office at 715am. That's 345 Franklin Street, between Hayes and Grove. Please RSVP to (415) 621-7932 if you'd like to fill that spot.
Tomorrow's agenda includes:
-talking with the District Attorney to request any evidence they have (if they'll comply with our request voluntarily, then we don't need to file a discovery motion)
-finding out whether they have any diversion options
-talking with the Public Defenders' office people to see what we can learn about the judge, etc.
-getting the next court date
Same time and place as usual:
Fremont Municipal Court,
Department 602 (2nd floor)
39439 Paseo Padre Parkway
Fremont
If you're coming on your own, it's only a ten minute walk from Fremont BART (exit parking lot, make a right on Walnut, and go past Civic Center Drive to Paseo Padre Parkway, then just across the street on the left). Don't forget you have to go through a metal detector to get into the court building, and they scan your bags and stuff. You can't have your day in court without sacrificing your Fourth Amendment right to be free from unreasonable searches.
Fight the Power!
