Red Light Spy Cameras Coming Down

Here's a cause the LPSF could get behind in San Francisco:

"Lawmakers in Maine, Mississippi and Montana banned red-light cameras last
year, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. Six other
states recently considered similar proposals."

Isn't it time San Francisco put a stop to the Big Brotherish trend of invading people's privacy with surveillance apparatus in public places?

I am uncomfortable with the red light cameras also. When a cop stops you for running a red light (and placing your follow citizens in danger) only he/she sees you (and who you happen to be with). The camera records you and anyone with you for posterity.

Thanks, Marcy. I didn't see my message as really offering anything new or controversial for our group; I copied it to lpsf-discuss simply to let people know I was writing the Board of Supervisors (perhaps encouraging others to do the same), and to let the Board members receiving the message know that it had an audience besides themselves.
