RE: Starchild received a thank you on Facebook

Thanks, Marcy! Please tell Claudia I appreciate her kind words if you get a chance.

She may be referring to comments I made at the Planning Commission's meeting on Thursday, which I attended with a couple other members of the SF Bay Area Renters Federation. We went mainly for the item on the Commission's consideration of a limited, temporary moratorium on market-rate development less sweeping than the one on the November ballot, but I took the opportunity to comment on at least a couple other items on the agenda, including:

• An Italian shoe store seeking to open on Polk Street
• A dance studio seeking to open in the Mission

On the moratorium item, I urged the Planners to make sure anything they impose sunsets at the November election, because if voters reject the moratorium ballot measure, we don't want to be stuck with something else. Passing a limited measure which expires then could perversely be helpful though, because it might sway some fence-sitting voters to think, we'll we've already had a temporary moratorium, maybe we don't really need this. Their discussion was inconclusive however. One friendly commission member, who remembered me from being a candidate for Supervisor, indicated afterward that they may be waiting on the results of a study due to be published soon, the name of which escapes me.

Video of the meeting is online here -- http://sanfrancisco.granicus.com/MediaPlayer.php?view_id=20&clip_id=23391 . I haven't looked up all my comments, but one of them starts a little after 5:05:30.
