Re: Solano Stroll in Albany/Berkeley tomorrow, Sunday / Potrero Hill Democrats (Tuesday Sept. 17)

Good idea, Richard. I could potentially do it, but I don’t have any Chase Oliver literature (or signs or shirts) either. We could make signs. Who else can go?

When we get the LPSF treasurer position sorted out hopefully soon, we can order more campaign lit. Greg and Trip and I went to the credit union last week, but they want us to jump through additional hoops (give them a letter on party letterhead, I forget what else).

We had Chase as a guest on the sex work rights Zoom call today, joining myself and four other sex worker presenters.Except for being under-attended, I thought it went fairly well. There were only 25 folks there, whereas the organizer had initially hoped for ten times as many. We did have about twice that many registrations, but many didn’t show. I didn’t promote it as much as I might have over the past week because of a bunch of crap with some of the organizers trying to pull the plug on him speaking, or severely limit it, and I didn’t want to make extra effort to outreach to libertarians if it was going to fall through and he not be able to speak. But in the end that went down fine. It should be up on YouTube for those who’d like to watch later.

I also spoke at the Potrero Hill Democratic Club’s meeting a few days ago against Proposition A (school bond) and Proposition L (rideshare service tax). I found out later that they endorsed both measures anyway, but they’ve invited me to come back and present again on Tuesday the 17th (they meet 6-830pm), against Propositions H (firefighter pensions), I (nurses and 911 operator pensions), J (youth/children/family program funding) and N (“first responder” student and training reimbursement).

Besides getting the libertarian message out, these neighborhood meetings are good speaking practice, as well as an opportunity to learn more about local politics from hearing other speakers on the measures. Would anyone like to come, either to argue against one of these propositions, or just attend to watch/learn? Last time there were maybe 40 people there, and they have a facility with a gorgeous hilltop view looking out toward the East Bay.

If you’re not already on the Chase Oliver email list LPSF email list I set up, please join (grassroots4chase@freelists.org mailto:grassroots4chase@freelists.org). Everyone’s also welcome on the LPSF lists, LPSF-discuss@forum.lpsf.org mailto:LPSF-discuss@forum.lpsf.org, LPSF-activists@forum.lpsf.org mailto:LPSF-activists@forum.lpsf.org, and/or LPSF-announce@forum.lpsf.org mailto:LPSF-announce@forum.lpsf.org, whether you’re a San Francisco resident or not. You should be able to just email these addresses and follow the instructions you get back on how to join.

Subject: Re: Solano Stroll in Albany/Berkeley tomorrow, Sunday

I’m thinking about going. The event runs from 10am to 5pm tomorrow all along Solano Ave in both Albany and Berkeley.

One idea is for folks attending to all wear Chase or LP T-shirts and pass out campaign/outreach materials, if anyone has any. Please reply if so. (The only brochures I have currently are for the Radical Caucus; new folks need to be party members before they can join the caucus. )

This idea expressed above is being used by the Kennedy team. If we have the resources (outreach materials), we could do the same. Our candidate actually wants their votes!

Hi,

Tomorrow is the Solano Stroll. A couple of days ago I remembered that the Stroll is the 2nd Sunday of each September.
But then I thought that tomorrow was the FIRST Sunday of the month when it is actually the second. Sunday.

We had talked about doing something at the Stroll.

Elizabeth

I drove through Albany and saw the barricades.

Hey all, if you haven’t already signed up as an elector, please do! It seems the law was amended in 2022 so we need to send in the full list of 54 electors AND 54 alternates (in the past, alternates were optional). According to the Chase campaign, they currently still need 40 more people to fill the full slate. The deadline for submittal is October 1st, but this needs to be done before the ExCom meeting on September 21st in Riverside.

Above was posted by Mimi elsewhere.

I have no idea if it matters your member status. But that issue I hope will be resolved before the 21st.

Hey Kurt, I like your idea of labelling Rothbard books at the social. I’m almost out of mine; I’ve been putting them in the little free libraries folks have on residential blocks. I got a hate note one time saying Rothbard is trash, but otherwise people are taking them so I keep restocking them. It’s very different from the standard cultural Marxism that’s usually there.

Folks, I have created a Facebook group for us to coordinate discussions and activities in the county, titled “Libertarians of Contra Costa County.” Here is the link: Redirecting... https://www.facebook.com/groups/1026119939207781/

I have not heard any objections about the social date, so I think it’s safe to say that Aug 31 at Los Moles at 1pm is set.

Good news all (even those who are out of state -Randy-or who I don’t know):

Last night the Centralizer failed in his epic struggle to censure Mimi and/or get her removed as JC. The chair failed again to get enough votes. This is due in part to her outreach to those in the MC. I heard he only got 7 votes from the Excom. The lockstep continues to break down.

I’m thrilled to have her as chair of the JC.

Bring your ideas, Kurt and everybody. Beth had a tabling opportunity also.

Hi, folks:

I’m for the idea, assuming that I have access to the car.

I’d like to propose that we act regardless of what the “board” would do.

Sandra (having been Treasurer at one point) might have advice for us on how to accomplish supporting CO’s campaign without having to get “official approval” from the LPCCC ExCom. Lord knows that what’s-his-butt has demonstrated disdain for official approval of county expenses – so it makes sense to act outside of official channels, in a manner he (or his minions) can’t veto.

I still have a bunch of copies of “What Has Government Done to Our Money?” available. Maybe I could bring along some stickers that advertise the CCCLP and we could tag the copies at Los Moles.

Sincerely,

Kurt Schultz

Subject: CCCLP 31 Aug Los Moles social?

Howdy, folks,

I’d like to suggest a Libertarian social at Los Moles in El Cerrito on Saturday, Aug 31 at 1pm. I suggest that day in particular since that is the day my full membership is restored after the mandatory 12 month waiting period. At this reunion, we can discuss ways to revive the CCCP and to locally support Chase Oliver’s campaign for president (sign waving, door knocking, etc.). If this were the CCCLP board, I’d move to allocate $300 towards buying campaign materials to distribute locally. But maybe we can all pitch in? (ex: $70 for a campaign table covering.)

If that date or time doesn’t work, we can reschedule-- just let us know. This is an open invitation, so feel free to invite anyone interested in Liberty and/or the Chase campaign.

In Liberty,

Richard
