Re: SFLP Treasurer updates

Thanks for this update, Trip, and for getting me the FIJA jury nullification fliers. As always, any of the fliers or other materials (Nolan Chart posters, etc.) of the LPSF’s that are in my possession are welcome for anyone to use for outreach, just let me know if you want to arrange that.

As I mentioned to you, I did make the payment to renew our Meetup organizer dues, but there was some misunderstanding and they cancelled it (see correspondence with Meetup below). Upon further communication, they said we have until Nov. 26 to renew. I will do it by then, at the full rate if I cannot find any valid promo code or offer in the meantime to reduce the amount.

I’ve copied this reply to the Activists list.

Hi all,

I made a brief stop by SF Credit Union on Monday November 10th. While there, I accomplished the following:

  1. Inquired about getting a debit card for the LPSF. They were uncertain as to whether or not our account type supports one. If it does, then they will mail one to me.

  2. Deposited $4.50. During the August or September meeting, we received an “anonymous” donation of $23 in cash. $18.50 of that amount was used to reimburse myself for the purchase of 75 flyers which had been ordered in the hopes of Starchild’s September 20th meeting. The other $4.50 of cash is now deposited. These flyers were given to Starchild on the November 8th monthly meeting.

  3. Confirmed that checks 1111 and 1112 were cashed/cleared on October 31st. They were written on October 21st. Both were to reimburse Starchild. One check for the creation of flyers and the other for the meetup dot com renewal for our LPSF meetup group.

Brendan,

When are you able to work with me so that I can gain access to the LPSF PayPal account?

Hi there,

Once a subscription has been canceled and refunded, it cannot be restored.

If you wish to continue organizing, you will be required to start your organizer subscription again.

You can enroll in Standard using the following link: https://www.meetup.com/subscription/checkout/core/billing_cycle/

You have until November 26, 2025, to resubscribe. After this date, you will be removed as the organizer of your groups.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,

Diana

Hi Diana,

I think someone misunderstood. I was cancelling auto-renewal (which shouldn’t be automatically imposed on people), not the $300 payment I made yesterday itself, although I am asking they not process that payment until they refund the $150 payment that they said would take 3-5 business days to refund.

Namaste,

Hello there,

Thanks for writing in! Diana here, from Meetup’s Community Support team

First off, I’d like to confirm that your Standard subscription was correctly canceled today and that you won’t be charged for being an organizer on Meetup going forward.

Moreover, I’ve refunded your most recent payment, and you can expect to see those funds back in your account in 3 - 7 business days.

For any reference, you may review the status of your subscription at any time by visiting your Organizer Subscription page https://www.meetup.com/account/subscription/.

We remain at your complete disposal and wish you a great day ahead!
Sincerely,

Diana

Is US$300.00 per year delivering a ROI, in terms of meeting attendance ( doubtful given Sec’y reports with fewer than 10 persons usually participating in meetings ) outreach event participations ( also doubtful since I have not seen many promoted even on this platform ) that justifies such an expense when other FREE platforms ( email, forum.lpsf, x.com, fb.com ) more than suffice?

Did anyone from the LPSF participate in CA State Sen Anthony Wiener’s soft campaign launch at Manny’s this week with the Southern California “black lesbian woman gym member” complainant/plaintiff who accused Sen Wiener of prioritizing those with Penises over Real Natural Born Women with Vaginas? The whole stunt & follow up controversy at Manny’s seemed contrived, but it got some media exposure that rose above usual partisan cults & silos. ( Tish HyMan is not a resident or constituent of Wiener’s senate district 11 & will not be voting for or against him, but She got the headsup & the resources to fly up just to ask him one (1) question at Manny’s?!? Smells like there is plenty of “dark money” already flowing into this race; the LPSF might as well pocket/purse some of that in campaign warchest coffers. ). Wiener is so detested, on this toxic issue & others, in local liberal & more so in conservative GOP communities, & a growing number of Dem coalitions who are moving — running desperately — away from such “99:1” issues that spelled defeat in 2024 ), any LPSF candidate who wants to run against him is going to get a windfall of financial support; the ROI on just casually throwing one’s hat in the race will surely pay off for any LP candidate & the LPSF.
