I’ll see emails you send to those lists, along with other subscribers. It doesn’t matter if you don’t live in San Francisco, the Bay Area, or California – not everyone else on the lists does. Of course being a good community member means also reading and maybe from time to time interacting with others on what they post too. This two-way street model builds engagement and community, which indirectly helps build libertarian connections and activism.

As a libertarian who has been involved in public policy most of my adult life, I believe this moment is an opportunity to demand change to police culture, departmental transparency, officer accountability & union stonewalling. This is not the time for blaming protestors, praising 99% of police, or pointing out the race of the officers.
As a recently retired pro-reform cop, I believe reform must begin with ending qualified immunity so as to send the signal that court deference to officers has gone too far, and denying victims the right to seek redress in court is un-American.
As a career-long professional free-market economist, I believe the next step is to require officers to be bonded by liability insurance - call it malpractice insurance - at their own expense, so as to create a private-sector third-party check on police adherence to best practices, which cannot be blocked by public-sector unions or local politicians.
