OK Starchild, I get the difference. I just want to make sure that we
make the difference really clear...that government doesn't do the
marrying. It's trickier given the obvious role government and politics
are playing in this particular situation. Without altering the intent,
can we think of a way to tighten up the presentation so we distinguish
ourselves from those who are using the situation to increase the status
of the state rather than decrease the influence of the state?

  When we give people the flowers, we can something like, "I'm sorry you still have to get permission from the government and pay them money in order to formalize your commitment to each other!"
