RE: [lpsf-discuss] Re: NYTimes.com Article: Op-Ed Columnist: On S ame-Sex Marriage

What's a tough call about bisexuals? I know lots of married bisexuals.

Some people still believe that bisexuals must have both an opposite sex
partner and same sex partner to be happy (not just either/or, as is the case
with all the bisexuals I know). That one cover story in Newsweek five years
ago wasn't enough exposure to deflate all the myths about bisexuality. And
I've not seen anything so educational in the mainstream press ever since then.

Dear Michael;

It was meant as humor in reference to Bush and his people saying
marriage was between a man and a woman. The Bush people don't have a
clue such marriages can exist successfully. And last longer than the
atypical male - female variety Bush is probably going to be pushing
as an amendment to the constitution.

Columnist: On Same-Sex Marriage

Dear Steve;

Unfortunately, if left at the federal level you have Bush and his

cohorts defining marriage as a couple being a man and a woman. (
Transgenders? Bisexuals? That's a tough call and sort of muddies the
waters ) See the various congressional proposals for a
constitutional amendment wending their way through congress defining
marriage as between a man and woman.

The best way now is to get states out of the marriage business and

just let states issue civil union agreements for ANY couple.

If anyone wants a religious marriage ceremony so be it -

regardless of the sex of the couple - if the minister,rabbi,
imam,reverend, pastor,lama, monk etc will do the ceremony. If I Ieft
out any religions it was an error of omission not delibrate.

Atheists and agnostics and true non-believers don't worry you're

covered.

And a very special religious note: Druids of the world unite -

Stonehenge beckons - the winter solstice draws nigh'.

Which is exactly the question with gay marriage, is it not? Does

the

constitution allow legal discrimination on the basis of sexual
orientation? If not, then it is a federal issue, correct?
