Yes--if we only took seriously that word "educate"! I don't think we
can hope to educate anyone until we have earned his or her respect,
which generally involves showing them respect as well. Among
libertarians I see a lot of denunciations of the left, but very little
dialogue or the making of friendships out of which there would be any
hope of education, in either direction. Tracts on the issues won't do
it; they don't read our stuff any more than we read theirs. I think the
education you're talking about has to occur at a personal level. That's
one reason I think outreach and alliances are so important. If Zeese
gets Libertarians and Greens and Populists working together on his
campaign, there's a good chance healthcare issues will get discussed
among them, and some chance of some leftists coming around to our view
on that issue. I don't know how else it can possibly happen. Do you?
