In retrospect, I wish I had thought to try to make more of the libertarian angle: Specifically, the fact that Americans in general, and San Franciscans above all, are unlikely to question anything done by the government. No doubt hundreds of people saw city workers taking down Louie's campaign signs at rush hour on Geary; but even those who thought it odd would mostly have reassured themselves that, because it was being done by the City, there must be nothing wrong. It might well practically take a libertarian to question the situation seriously enough to make a report.
