What's your guess about why WTC7 collapsed in free-fall time?

IIRC, the entire WTC complex was built on a massive shared pit. I would expect the collapse of the twin towers to damage the pit and put any other buildings that shared it effectively on unstable grounds.

Btw, I think Frontline might have had a special on this that went into the history of the WTC complex construction.
