Congresswoman McKinney missed a wonderful opportunity to role model to others an example of how to behave. Too often people (and particularly teenagers) get into trouble when stopped by the police because they don't know how to behave. They often react as did Congresswoman McKinney and then get themselves into more trouble. I have no idea how she was treated, but even if she was treated badly, she should have responded with dignity and grace and then reported the offender to the person in charge. As a retired elementary school teacher, I can tell you that her behavior is typical of many of my former students, but it is not the behavior one expects from a responsible adult.
