RE: [lpsf-discuss] Candidate for Governor

5) Roscoe enters California gubernatorial race
    Napa Valley Register

"As candidates line up to replace Gov. Gray Davis .... Napa resident
Ned Roscoe, 42, who may be familiar to voters for his efforts to
maintain the rights of smokers in the face of increasing regulation,
has said he will run as a Libertarian Party candidate. Voters may
recognize Roscoe's name from the 2000 ballot, when he sponsored Prop.
28, the initiative to remove the 50 cent tax on cigarettes that pays
for early childhood smoking education. Voters roundly rejected that
effort, but more than a million Californians voted for the measure.
Roscoe hopes to lure them back to the polls come October." (07/29/03)
