RE: [lpsf-activists] Change for September Monthly Meeting

Aubrey:
Thanks. I think that should work out fine.
I won’t be at next 2 meetings because in August I am going up to Seattle to see one grandchild and in Sept I’ll be in D.C. visiting the other 3.

Hi All. For the first time in the 5 years I’ve been doing this, all 3 smaller meeting rooms at the Main Library were booked during our usual 3-5 PM slot. I considered switching to one of the branches or doing the meeting at a restaurant, but I remember the fierce opposition that changing the location evoked about 5 years ago, so for this one time only, I booked the 1st Floor Meeting Room (Stong Room) for 4:00-5:30 PM on Saturday, September 10. When it comes time for the agenda, I will chop down the Activist Reports and Announcements time so that all the important business gets done in 1.5 rather than 2 hours. By this time in September, the ballot measure submissions will have taken place, and we’ll be in the heat of the Presidential election season planning our promotions and (hopefully) getting invited all over town to present the Libertarian perspective on the ballot measures. A rather important meeting and not the usual 2 hours to work with, so I will be in a dictatorial mood and will cut off windy off-tangent folks.

This is only for the September meeting, and I’m sure we’ll be back to the 4th Floor in our usual time slot in October, so for those who prefer consistency–no reason to freak out! In the beginning of September, I will ask Marcy update the website for this September meeting only and also ask Starchild to change the Meet-up for this meeting only. I will send out a reminder prior to the meeting about it being on the 1st Floor and starting at 4:00, not 3:00. I think we can live with this change for just this one meeting, and I hope it doesn’t discourage folks from showing up.

By the way, I just took a look at the Department of Elections to see what’s brewing on the ballot measures. Not too many changes since I looked at it last time, though the bumper crop will appear shortly after next week-end. I see they dropped the Housing Bonus ballot measure, and since we never spent much time on that one, at least it will be one less to deal with. I also see that they added a 3/4 billion dollar bond measure for the SF Unified School District with the word “may” in there a lot as to the list of projects that the money could fund, which already makes it highly suspect for fiscal mismanagement. That looks like a good one for us to oppose, especially since it mentions new school construction at a time when families are leaving The City left and right due to the high costs of housing. More fun to come soon!

Thanks!
Aubrey
