Derek,

  I couldn't agree more. And it's not just a tactical error, but a moral one. Nationalism is nationalism.

Dear Derek;

In that context would you prefer that they had marched under a
United Farm Workers flag?

Although marching under the Mexican Flag may have been a strategic
error the land in California on which they were marching was once
part of Mexico. It got taken away as a result of the fraudently
concocted Mexican War. In some respects it was a big a fraud as the
War on Iraq. In actually it was nothing more than a land grab.

Strangely enough in this war Lincoln was against the Mexican War and
the Invasion.

I understand what you are getting at. They should be sporting more name-brand fashions. :wink:

Dear Derek;

Lost or not if the Mexicanos leave who's gonna swamp out them mens
and ladies rooms and sweep up floors and dump waste baskets and pick
harvests?

If everyone was so really concerned about "the jobs" Mexicans were
taking from good old red-blooded Americans there wouldn't be anyone
on unemployemnt and there would be absolutely no need for the
Mexican workers legal or illegal.

The unemployemnt rules should be changed to read : able to accept
any job physically capable of handling. If you don't accept then
immediate cut off of un-employment.

Then watch how quickly people change their tunes about
Immigraciones - legal or illegal.

Dear Derek;

Rule of Law? Unfortunately, Bush and his minions do not believe in
such thangs and their actions speak louder than their words when it
comes to anything even remotely for what passes as Rule Of Law.

For Bush and his Bushtapo the laws just get in their way as little
bitty speed bumps and are ignored by them in the main.

When was the last time you ever heard or read about Bush and the
Bushtapo obeying a law - if it wasn't contrary to what they wanted
to do???

I agree and had a similar opinion of the palestinian flags that got waved around at the anti-war protests I participated in.

Dear Derek:)

Sorry I didn't recognize you outside 101 California tonight.

I was thrown by the black beret - the Che icon t-shirt - the red
kerchief concealing half your face and the flags you were carrying
PLO - UFW - AFL/CIO.

All the while leading that mass demonstration and shouting through
your bull horn - Freedom Now - No More Taxes - Freedom Now - No More
Taxes.

You really got that crowd worked up and if it hadn't been for the
SFPD-SWAT team I'm certain you could've finished un-furling that
roof to sidewalk banner on the outside of 101 California. The
message was really clear and I wish more people could've seen it:

  Death To Taxes!!! Free the Taxpayers!!!!! Death To Taxes!!!

I would've stayed to help but had to rush to catch my express bus or
ended up waiting a real long time for the next one or ended getting
swept up in the mass arrests.

Have you made bail yet???

P.S. Why are they called Express Buses - when they ain't???

Thanks Ron. I'm actually still sitting here after being arrested
during the protest.

In the tradition of the great prison literature (Dostoevsky, Martin
Luther King Jr, Starchild), I'm working on writing a book about the
experience.

Dear Derek;

Don't forget the prison literature created by Henry David Thoreau
" Civil Disobedience". It formed the non-violent protest foundation
used first by Gandhi and then King.

It still stands as a Libertarian primer for NOT PAYING TAXES. For
those of you who may not have read Civil Disobedience this web site
has it on-line in three parts.

   http://eserver.org/Thoreau/civil.html

Gandhi wrote a line or two about his prison experiences as well. And
don't forget Aleksandr Isaevich Solzhenitsyn and his classic One Day
In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich and the immortal: The Gulag
Archipelago.

My goodness - Derek - such luminous Literatti Prisoners to walk amid
and amongst.
