Very good points, Greg. I’m now inclined to vote against Proposition 25. I do however strongly want to see an end to the injustice of pre-trial detention except in exceptional cases where a defendant presents a great threat to public safety. I have some confidence in Chesa Boudin as D.A. using the elimination of bail as a means toward this end locally and putting protocols in place that will make the system more, not less just, but the risks of trusting Prop. 25 to have this effect at the state level seem too great.
