Proposal to Rename Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Berkeley

I have a proposal that will earn us Libertarians deaths threats and other
brickbats but if it does not get us all killed at least it will get us
publicity.

My proposal is to change the name of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in
Berkeley California back to the original name, which was Grove Street.

I was a student at the University of California at Berkeley in the 1960s so
I am able to remember that the name of the street then was Grove Street.

I recognize that we will be called racists and all kinds of other bad names
if we want to change the name of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue back to
Grove Street, but think of how we can use it in connection with our “Save
the Trees” campaign. (Do we have one?)

Think of all the trees that have had to die because of all the paper that
has been used up just to write the name of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
Avenue billions of times.

There is a Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in every city of the United
States.

There are more than 730 streets named Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_streets_named_after_Martin_Luther_King_Jr
.

There is also a Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in San Francisco and
another one in Bronx New York where I also live that used to be called
University Avenue.

More Streets are named after Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. than any other
political name, more than are named after George Washington, Abraham
Lincoln or John F. Kennedy.

And if they kill us for making this proposal at least we will have died for
a worthy cause.

Every time a street changes its name, that is very harmful to the businesses on that street.

My suggestion would be to leave things as they are. I would even again suggest opposition to any further name changes for anything.
