It is sooo time to pounce on the political condition in the Bay Area. A serious anti-war, pro-prosperity, anti-police state, pro limited government group could put the Republicans out of business and take lots of Dems too.

The Bay Area Reporter was there…dinky but the guy was taking copious notes. http://ebar.com/
Don’t know the name of the reporter but you might want to connect with them for the details of the event. I wish I had taken notes as there were many VERY impressive speakers. It seemed very clear to me that most were independent minds and many like the “Not In Our Name” lady, were openly holding Obama accountable for the wars.

Unfortunately, I got there late, just as one speaker was ending and Starchild was beginning. Afterward, I was standing next to Elsberg's little red convertible, not knowing it was his until he got in and drove away.
It's hard to say where the momentum is going. There is the possibility that there has been a choice between the "lesser of war-mongers", and that embarrassing Obama may empower the greater with their anti-gay agenda to boot.
But there was no hint of that at the rally. It was about the betrayal of the movement and its broad principles. Feelings were mixed over whether Lisa Williams should be unseated or should admit her error and set things right.

Can you write a statement about today's rally, possibly quoting Ellsberg, and summarizing where the momentum is going from here? I have an 8pm meeting but I'll be home by 9:30 and I can put together the release tonight for distribution by morning. It doesn't have to be lengthy or opining. It can be just-the-facts, a bit of name-dropping, and a sense of being "in the moment" ... having a finger on the pulse of what's developing. I'll be home after 9!!
Daniel Elsberg was there. I exchanged # with two of the "electoral college" one who nominated Manning. We all see ete to eye on the problem of the war- mongering police-state. Even the former left-right divide has been obliterated by the Naziesque takeover
of the political landscape.
This is another coalition building opportunity.
Starchild made a good speech to a rausing applause.
As an unintended consequence, Lisa Williams denouncing Manning will make this parade all about Manning.
The broadcast news was not there. This is another opportunity to reveal its bias also.

>I'm glad you liked it, that makes me happy.
In defense of the word "tyranny" the intention was to draw a parallel between Lisa's decree and the Obama regime ... and the idea that this decision came from higher up. Also intended to draw from the language
of anti-statism across the spectrum. Maybe "authoritarian" or "despotic" would have been a shade less alarmist? I'm happy to put out more releases for Outright SF, prepare the text verbatim with a contact person and I'll do it up on the letterhead. You can
send it to secretary@... so I"ll get it right away because I'm not checking this board regularly. I'm actually in Phoenix.

>> Thanks, Mike. I'm not sure that tyranny is our best angle on this, however. The Board and its defenders can rightfully reply that it is not a state, and so the concept is inapplicable. Even more importantly, if the Board had voted unanimously with Williams,
we would still oppose the decision just as strongly, for all the reasons enunciated by Greenwald.
