Leonard Peltier, as some of you may know, is an Indian rights activist and political prisoner in the United States, who has been the subject of appeals from the human rights group Amnesty International. He was framed for the killing of an FBI agent during a confrontation with Indian rights activists in 1975 (see http://www.whoisleonardpeltier.info/shootout.htm for details), and has been imprisoned for over 30 years. Recently he was transferred to a different federal facility, where he was assaulted by some other inmates (possibly at the instigation of authorities who do not want him out on parole). Please read below about what happened and write or call to support Peltier's release and humane treatment.
