Oakland Private Property Owner Rights Violated???

Dear Everyone;

This article in todays Chronicle reports on a new Oakland City Ordinance law which would force private property landlords to evict tenants arrested for drugs, weapons or other crimes. The landlords can currently do this but the Oakland ordinance would require landlords to do this.

The discussion question:

How do you get rid of tenants who commit crimes ( this means charged - not found guilty yet ) and not let them stay and possibly terrorize other tenants???

Is this another Nanny Law??? Or another violation of private property owners and their rights???

As Councilman Larry Reid, who sponsored the ordinance, said, " This will help law-abiding residents reclaim their blocks."
