The LPC Executive Committee held its regular monthly meeting this past Tuesday (12 May), via Zoom.
The EC approved the minutes of the previous meeting (14 April).
There were reports from the officers and various committees. Some of these triggered discussion, e.g., about recent membership recruiting efforts, progress in updating the web site, and the status of the project to evaluate the possibility of switching to NationBuilder.
The EC approved adding one member to our delegation to the national convention.
There was discussion of the fact that there are vacancies in the position of Central Area Coordinator and on the Judicial Committee; there was agreement that the Chair should send announcements about these to the membership to solicit applications.
The EC approved, conditional on the hotel agreeing to certain terms, holding the next state convention at the DoubleTree by Hilton Sacramento the weekend of 6-8 August 2027.
The EC voted to endorse William Brown, who is on the ballot for State Senate District 12, and three Libertarians who have filed or will be filing as write-in candidates for State Assembly: Alan Reynolds in District 8, Starchild in District 17, and Brian McWilliams in District 61.
The EC voted to take positions on several initiatives that might appear on some future statewide ballot [here iddentified by the four-digit numbers assigned by the Secretary of State – they won’t have “Proposition” numbers until they actually appear on a ballot]: in favor of two tax-limitation proposals [1983 and 2014], in opposition to two that would authorize bonds [1990 and 2006], and in opposition to two that would regulate AI products in the name of “child safety” [2002 and 2013].
