Hi Tracy,

I wanted to give you a heads up that the ACLU of Northern California will be leading an effort to oppose Proposition E, which will appear on the March 5, 2024 primary ballot in San Francisco. Register today to join our Campaign Kickoff at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11.

Mayor London Breed introduced Proposition E, which relates to Police Department Policies and Procedures and Use of Technology. This measure would weaken the police commission’s oversight power, undermining the transparency and accountability San Francisco residents deserve from their police department, undercut the ordinance that protects residents from invasive government surveillance, and allow police to engage in dangerous high-speed car chases in pursuit of people suspected of committing low-level crimes. Read more about our opposition in this l signed by more than two dozen Bay Area community organizations.

I hope that you will join us for text banking, phone banking, get out the vote and other essential campaign tactics to help defeat this! During Phase 1 of our campaign, we’ll be reaching out to you and other San Francisco residents to explain how dangerous and harmful this ballot measure could be if passed. Sign up to volunteer here!

Please register today and bring a friend to the Campaign Kickoff at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 11 where you can learn more about Proposition E, ask questions, and hear from those who are directly impacted by this issue.

Together, we worked hard to create the Police Commission and the Surveillance Ordinance. We won’t let it all be taken away. It’s time to defend the progress we have made. Join us to protect our civil liberties in SF.

Thank you,
Tanisha Humphrey
