Dear Everyone;
Good news. Based on the estimated 110,000 total votes cast for the mayors race the new signature requirements at 5% for Initiaitve Ordinances are now 5,500. This is half of what the requirements were from the last mayors race. This new amount will stay like that for the next 4 years. Charter amendments at 10% of the new reduced amount of registered voters is 42,000.
It's time to re-think some proposed Initiative ordinances or Public Policy Statements. Charter Amendments would require some major help from other interested parties or political alliances and so on.
The next election date is Feb. 5 Presidential Elections Primary and only Initiaitve qualified for the ballot is the Parks Bond placed there by the Supervisors.
June 3 is the Primary election day and then Nov. 4th General Election Day.
Special note the Supervisors boosted the partial matching funds for the supervisors race to $88,000 by a vote of 8-3. But wait shouldn't the voters be deciding this? It was a first reading so one more vote is required before being enacted.
