Based on feedback at Saturday's meeting, there are two new sections of the
LPSF.org website:
1) A Candidates menu on the left, right under the main navigation menu. I
currently only have Phil's, Mark's, and Christina's websites, as those were
the only URLs I knew. If you know the links to other Libertarian candidate
websites (either SF candidates or statewide candidates), please forward them
to me. Does anyone know Starchild's website? I considered linking to this:
http://www.sfweekly.com/bestof/2010/award/best-political-activist-bisexual-escort-1983701/but
decided to wait until there's an actual campaign site (Facebook would
be
fine, too).
2) A "Top News" module at the top of the page that won't "roll" off the
front page as new articles are added. This is where we'll put ballot
recommendations and candidate endorsements in the future, so that activists
can post articles in Latest News without worrying about bumping the
important stuff off the front page. (This is what happened this month, when
there were so many new articles -- a good thing -- that our ballot
recommendations were no longer on Page 1 by June 8.) Right now, the only
Top News items are SF Pride and the Independence Day party.
So, for those who provide content, here's how you should categorize your
articles:
If it's a timeless policy position (basically anything we'd feel comfortable
printing out as a tri-fold and not worry about it becoming dated for at
least a few years), it should go in About LPSF / Issues and will show up on
our "Issues" page (and on the front page if you check that box).
If it's more timely, and the sort of thing one would expect to see in a
newsletter or blog, especially if it's just a one-liner comment followed by
a link, then it should go in News / Latest and will show up on our "The
News" page (and on the front page if you check that box).
And, as I mentioned earlier, if it's something we want to keep at the top of
the page at least until an election or big LPSF-sponsored event, then it
belongs in News / Top News.
As always, if you have ideas for improving the website, let me know.
