I think it would be great for the LPSF do some kind of protest and/or outreach to immigrants at either 100 Montgomery Street, or 630 Sansome Street, the locations mentioned in the piece linked above. Could anyone do this on a weekday? Anyone want to try to find out when their next immigration court hearings are happening?
Here’s another article about a resolution that some members of the Board of Supervisors are sponsoring to try to get the SFPD to adopt a policy to respond to ICE. It sounds pretty meek and toothless, but as a first step is better than nothing:
The resolution’s sponsor is District 11 supervisor Chyanne Chen, whose district has the highest proportion of immigrants in SF, according to the article, and it is currently co-sponsored by supervisors Jackie Fielder (D9), Shamann Walton (D10), Connie Chan (D1), Myrna Melgar (D7), and Rafael Mandelman (D8).
If you live in one of the other districts, please call your supervisor and tell them you want them to sign on in support! If you’re not sure which district you’re in or who “your” supervisor is, I encourage you to take a minute and find out here:
