My next dinner party is Friday Jan. 13 (and it will be really great.)

As you may have noticed, my monthly 2nd Friday dinner parties have become a real event! Yes, you'll enjoy yummy food and good conversation with old and new friends, but now there is something new: Every dinner features a presentation on a different interesting topic each month! For example, last month we had a mini-concert by Gilbert Martinez, the artistic director of MusicSources (He even brought a small harpsichord to show and play!)

This month's dinner will happen Friday, January 13, at Cafe Gratitude on 9th Ave. This will be a Cafe Gratitude first for my dinner series.

Our topic will be 'The Role of Gold In Your Investment Portfolio.' Financially aware people, noticing the uptick of inflation, the lackluster performance of the stock market, and the end of the real estate run-up, are considering diversifying into hard assets. Tonight's presenters, Phil Berg and Chris Wignall, will present a friendly debate on the role of precious metals in wealth-building and take questions from the guests.

Space Is Limited! Please be sure to RSVP to me No Later Than Thursday, Jan. 12 if you want to go.

When you RSVP, please include an accurate probability estimate that you'll in fact be there.

Cafe Gratitude, 1336 9th Ave. (near Irving). We'll gather (in the party room) at 6:30pm and eat at 7pm. Each person will order their own thing and I guess the cost should be about $16 each.

The best way to get there is by public transport, Take the N (Judah) train outbound and hop off at 9th Ave, then just stroll a few meters south. By BART just get off at Embarcadero, go upstairs and back down to muni, and catch the N outbound. Email me for Caltrain directions or specifics from other parts of town.

Looking forward to seeing y'all.
