Terrific letter! I love the Orwell reference. Did you give your title as chair or candidate when you wrote the letter? If so, I think we should complain. Because while they didn't print it, they did credit letter writer Christine Ambrose as the California organizer of American Lands Alliance on the same page.

Did you give your title
as chair or candidate when you wrote the letter?
I didn't. I used to routinely do so, but I think that the odds of
publication are lower when I do. While I was able to suggest third
parties, I intentionally didn't say *which* third party or parties I would
prefer. This is the first letter I've been able to get into the
_Chronicle_, and I think it's party because of the non-partisanship.
Unfortunately, doing controlled experiments on the subject is tough.
