The shooter was a 24 year veteran of the force. I will know who it is but for the time being, his name is not being released.
According to the official timeline, released by the Santa Rosa Police Dept, shots were fired within 10 seconds of the report of a "suspicious person".
The boy was struck by 7 bullets. He had less than ten seconds to live, from when he was spotted, swooped-on from behind, and gunned down, shot in the right buttock, twice in the right hip, right forearm, right wrist, right side of the chest and left bicep.
He was walking along a semi-rural road, carrying what the police believed was a gun. As such, it is a Constitutionally protected activity. Unfortunately, Sheriff Frietas "had to leave" before we could pin him to his commitment to the Constitution, at the town hall we had with Tim Donnelly. I guess we have our answer now, in no uncertain terms.
