My advice is not to unsubscribe, but to just automatically delete the e-mails from those who seem to enjoy putting each other down. That’s what we do. There are some people on this list that have some informative, interesting information. Just read their stuff.

For what it's worth, I've removed posting privileges for:
Bruce Cohen
Brian Holts (because of his last message)
Brian Miller
and put Tim Campbell under moderation.
I'm sorry I had to do this and again, if any moderator disagrees, please feel free to change this. Also, apologies to the members from us moderators for letting this get out of hand.
What did Tim Campbell do? And I'm not even sure I remember the last time Bruce Cohen posted on this list...not that I'm a fan of the guy, I'm just saying...

Francoise, Chris and others:
One of the most powervul tools I discovered when I was just getting involved with email back in the early 1990s was the “twit filter” option in the old PPoint email system we used to run on FIdonet for our Common Sense BBS in the East Bay. Every time I received a message from a specific individual whom I had determined met the qualifications of a “twit,” or someone whose comments I found particularly unworthy of reading, I could filter them out into a specific folder so that I only read them when I decided I had the time. Or I could simply delete them without reading them. This saved me a great deal of time and aggravation, as I would so often be tempted to reply to some of their nonsense, but rarely bothered. Thus, I could “moderate” my own experience of a message group without blocking the message from being received by others.
Most, if not all, email clients still have this feature, so you can use it in Outlook, Groupwise, Notes and probably Eudora. It gives the individual the ability to manage their experience of the list without affecting the experience of others subscribed to the same list.
I really don’t think we need moderators blocking posts at the server side when each of us has the ability to do so on our client. If you have become “disinterested” in this thread, you can easily excuse yourself from it without preventing others from following the discussion and without unsubscribing from the entire lpsf-discuss list (and missing out on the valuable communication that does take place here).
My 2 cents.
