About "Republican-Lite"....
will this be "less-filling" or "taste great"....

OK Brian...I see what you mean. Brian H gloats more
than I'd like and
would recommend that he review that. However
regarding the platform
issues raised...I haven't yet seen a clear reply to
the positions
presented by Brian H and the platform committee. As
a former Outright
Libertarian Secretary, I'd very much like to see a
reply. I've been
concerned about the "weakening" and
"Republican-Lite" direction so many
have talked about...and there is evidence that some
of this is
true...but on the issues presented in this
discussion largely by
Rob...it seems Brian has made some good points.
If Rob or Brian M would prefer to discuss these with
me personally
rather than on the list...then I'm all ears.
Inquiring minds want to
know.

I disagree that Brian H. has made "good points" in
defense of his
marriage plank. Considering that not a single queer
LP voice was
involved -- and none of the voices supportive of the
de-gaying has ever
done successful LGBTQ outreach -- the fact that the
voices of people as
varying on major issues as myself, Rob and Ruth
Bennett should be a
warning sign.
Apart from that, I agree that direct attacks on
other posters are not
appropriate. Holtz knew this, he chose to continue
to cross the line
anyway. My position on moderation is relatively
well-known -- however,
if one chooses to post on a moderated list, he
implicitly accepts the
rules governing that list. Break 'em and there's
hell to pay.
Cheers,
Brian

I agree the recent posts of Brian didn't seem
uncivil. And Chris wasn't
clear about the reasons he left or at least I didn't
see anything to
suggest it.
The discussion between Brian H and Brian M and Rob
has been heated but
to be honest Brian H has consistently made good
points in defense of his
position regarding the "marriage" plank in the LP
platform that I've not
been able see refuted by those consistently making
the claim that the
platform is being weakened in this regard. So I've
found the exchange
productive and respect those willing to go toe to
toe over issues they
consider important. Maybe I can take a little more
"heat" than some so
the combative energy doesn't bother me too much or
for long.

I haven't followed the discussions in detail but got
the impression
that it was Brian's post accusing various people of
"lies" that
prompted Chris' departure. Did I get the wrong
impression?
