Hi All. Here arethe minutes written by Jawj for the November meeting. The only things I noted that neededcorrections were the monthly recurring total for donations which should be $169rather than $175 and the postcard mailings were about 1,900 in total ratherthan 1,900 each. I do look forward tothe day when we have 3,800 registered Libertarians in San Francisco, which isnot so impossible the way The City’s population continues to grow despite thecost of living here and of course the Presidential election this year. Marcy, if you could please post the minutesto the website in a few days allowing time for any further review, that wouldbe great. An extra, extra special thanksto Jawj for managing to do the minutes despite lots of computer problemsrecently. By the way, just to update you, in yesterday’s meeting,Les and I each agreed to serve one more year in the same positions and Phil waselected as Vice Chair. Also, we have nowfinally nailed down both panelists for the April 10 panel discussion ontransportation—Tom Rubin from the libertarian side and Jerry Cauthen fromSaveMuni—so we are 100% good to go to start promoting the event. Both men are very well versed in transportationissues and know each other and agree on some things but not on others, so itshould be a great event for the LPSF. Also the LPSF voted on (by acclamation) once again having a booth atPride on June 25-26 this year, so I will get to work on that. Also the very first ballot measure (anothersugary beverage tax presented this time by Malia Cohen which they are insistingis not a tax) for November 2016 is already on the Department of Electionswebsite, so it will be a great year for the statists to try and extract moremoney from the taxpayers and tell us how to live. We will be there for sure so the voters canhear the side! And finally DeborahLayton will be at the Libertarian book club gathering on January 20 discussingher “Seductive Poison” book about the Jonestown tragedy, so all are encouragedto attend.

Activist Reports: We reportedwhat we’d done to strike blows for freedom since the last meeting. Followingour November election campaign, we had a quieter month and turned to localneighborly concerns. Marcy joined herSunset District Neighborhood Watch and a “resilient Sunset” emergency responsegroup. She also recorded a reminder for a local podcast to remember the self-employedin discussion of effects of economic policy. Zack spoke at an “Enough isEnough” rally and is hosting an ethics summit in conjunction with his‘Represent Us’ political action group. Cliff talked to a colleague about Murrary Rothbard and lent him a tapeto listen to on his commute. Francoiseis also active on her neighborhood emergency response team. Aubrey connected with a local small propertyowner’s group, attending a meeting with 200 others. He also gave public comment at a Rent Boardmeeting to discuss proposals to expand rent control rules governing leases.
Announcements: The Golden Gate Liberty Revolution monthly meeting isNovember 16. The Students for LibertyNorthern California Conference is November 21. Membership/Newsletter: Aubrey reported that the LPSF has 19 currentannual members and 20 life members. He plans to expand his monthlynewsletter emailing, in the hopes of eventually reaching a circulation of 500. It continues to be well received.
Treasurer’s Report: Les reported that we now have $4,050.67 in the bank. He has taken over management of the PayPalaccount, which currently brings in $175per month.
November Election Wrapup: Aubrey reviewed detailed Dept. of Electionsresults for the November Election. Ourelection efforts included the ballot arguments (funded by special donations) andspending of $1300, used among other things for ads giving our endorsements inthe student newspapers of City College and SF State, a Facebook ad(pay-as-you-go for each click), and two postcard mailings of 1900 each (ofwhich 4% were returned as undeliverable). For this election there were just under 3000 registeredlibertarians. This represents .66% ofvoters (compared to 16% for the Republicans), and is spread fairly evenly overthe city, with a high of .81% in the Marina. Transportation Event. We voted (For 5, Against 1)that as our 2016 “Tax Day” event we have a panel discussion on growth andtransportation issues, as proposed by Aubrey and Marcy. This has been tentatively scheduled forApril 10th, from 1:30 to 3:30 in the Noe Valley Library. Tom Rubin, a transportation expert with aLibertarian bent, has been asked, and Aubrey and Marcy will recruit a supporterof public transportation for a contrasting view. Affordable Housing Bonus Program: Marcy Berry distributed an outline of currentproposals for an affordable housing initiative in San Francisco, and urged usto keep abreast of the various proposals as they emerge and to support thosethat include middle income units and do not rely on taxpayer subsidy.
