An e-mail from Cynthia Papermaster of CodePink reports.
Breaking news: We hear that Sasha Shamszad, the Berkeley landlord that began
this whole controversy by renting to the Marine recruiters, has come to an
agreement with CodePINK and the Marine Recruiting Station - and they're
LEAVING TOWN!!!
A press conference is planned for Tuesday, 4/1 at noon. Location not
provided, but probably at the Recruiting Station.
If this is true, it's great news and a huge victory for the local anti-war
movement. It's a terrible shame that local youth are being hoodwinked into
risking their lives for US misadventures in Iraq and Afghanistan. At least
it might stop happening in our immediate neighborhood.
